Descripción
Subshrubs with hirsute stems, the hairs ca. 1 mm long. Leaf blades mostly 8-13 cm long, 2-3 times as long as wide, narrowly ovate, deeply cordate, crenate-dentate, acuminate, densely and softly whitish pubescent beneath, minutely appressed- pubescent above; petioles of the lower leaves 1/3 the length of the blades or more, reduced upward so that the uppermost are sessile and amplexicaul; stipules 9-11 mm long, filiform, hirsute. Pedicels 6-9 cm long (equaling or exceeding the subtending leaves); calyx 8-10 mm long, more than half-divided, stellate-pubescent; petals 1.5-2 cm long, ciliate on claw, otherwise glabrous; staminal column 3-4 mm long, glabrous, pallid, the filaments 3-4 mm long; styles ca. 12, glabrous, slender. Fruits 11 mm in diameter, oblate; mericarps ca. 12, 6-7 mm long, minutely pubescent, the lower cell dorsally grooved, separated from upper cell by external constriction and internal endoglossum, the upper cell greatly expanded relative to lower cell; seeds 2.5 mm long. Chromosome number unknown.
