Description

Erect spreading shrubs to 1.5 m tall, the stems stout and woody, densely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades up to 9 cm long (progressively reduced upward), ovate, deeply cordate, crenate to subentire, acuminate; petioles almost as long as the blades. Flowers 2-6 in umbels, racemes, or intermediate arrangements, these borne on peduncles more than 2 cm long, solitary or paired in the leaf axils; pedicels 2-4 mm long, with both simple hairs 2 mm long and stellate hairs; calyx 7 mm long, deeply divided, stellate-pubescent; corolla with a dark center, the petals 6-7 mm long, the claws bearded on margin, hairs 1 mm long; staminal column ca. 2 mm long, hispid; styles ca. 14, pallid, the stigmas pallid. Fruits 1.5-2 mm in diameter, inflated, hispid; mericarps 12-14, rounded, laterally compressed, dehiscent, 3- seeded; seeds ca. 2 mm long, glabrous. Chromosome number unknown.A
