Descripción

Liana. Petioles 5.0–10.0(15.0) cm long, without pseudostipules. Leaf blades deltate to cordiform, apex acute to attenuate, base auriculate, (6.0–) 9.0–15.0(30.0) long 6.0–16.0(21.0) wide cm. Flowers axillary, solitary; flower peduncles 12.4–16.0 cm long. Bract orbicular, perfoliate. Perianth 32–70(125) cm long; utricle long obovoid to ellipsoid; tube bent 20 –40, tubular, widened toward the limb; limb cordate to deltate, long caudate at the apex, cordate at the base; limb color cream color based, covered by a purple red reticulum, sometimes covered the entire surface, and around the throat dark purple redA

Mexico: to treat scorpion stings, rheumatism, syphilitic sores, cholera, febrifuge actions as tonic and acts on the nervous system against neuralgia; the root is used as sudorific and emmenagogue, against diarrhea and digestive disorders; its tincture is used against rheumatism; the leaves are boiled and used against headache, five leaves are soaked in baths that are taken twice a day; early in the morning and in the afternoon (for 3 days); Veracruz: the roots are used as alexiteric (antidote).A
