Descripción
Differs from A. achilleifolium in having up to ca. 5 (or more) pairs of reduced proximal pinnae, the smallest sometimes only 1–2 cm long. Differs from A. blepharophorum in lacking buds in the axils of distal pinnae, narrower scales mostly two cells wide along the rachises and costae abaxially, and in the less densely scaly stipes and rachises.A

Discusión taxonómica
This species is most closely related to A. achilleifolium and differs by the characters given in the diagnosis above. These two, with the addition of A. blepharophorum and A. solmsii, form a natural group in Mexico and Mesoamerica.A
