Discusión taxonómica

Notholaena greggii is most closely related to N. bryopoda Maxon, an endemic gypsophile in Coahuila and Nuevo León. The latter can be distinguished by subconcolorous, bright brown rhizome scales, linear stipe scales (vs. lance-ovate), and a more easterly distribution.
