(In relation to the synonym Trichomanes ekmanii) Mickel 5848 (NY) (= T. godmanii) has some transverse false veins, but 5849 does not. The coincidence of the two species cooccurring suggests that the character of transverse false veins may be a weak one, at least in Mexico. However, we treat them here as distinct, pending further study.A
